After canceling two Pike People Street tests earlier this month due to inclement weather — a severe storm that turned out tamer than expected but still wet and windy — the Seattle Department of Transportation has rescheduled one of its dates to coincide with Hilloween.
The Capitol Hill Chamber of Commerce event will be held Saturday, Oct. 29, noon to 3 p.m. in Seattle Central College’s Mitchell Activity Center, followed by a kids march led by the Chaotic Noise marching band along Broadway, Pike and Pine streets.
SDOT will close Pike Street, between 10th and 11th, noon to 6 p.m., testing a new approach to to its Pike People Street, which last year catered to nightlife.
The city will provide street furnishings and activities, and is engaging business and community partners that had planned on participating during the rained-out Oct. 13 and Oct. 16 testing dates to join SDOT’s Hilloween test with programming and sidewalk cafes. SDOT reports there is still time for more applications.
